By NY-USAW Media Team

94: Lorilye Beardsley (Avon-Geneseo-5)

Asserting herself as the clear favorite to win the 94-pound crown in Albany next month, the River Hawk 8th grader [Beardsley] remained unbeaten this season by sweeping a pair of titles at the Southern Tier Memorial and the Eastern States Classic...

Seeded 3rd among the field this past weekend in Clifton Park, the returning Section V bronze medalist put the finishing touches on her 94-pound coronation when she repeatedly stuffed her opponent's TDs to turn defense into offense...

Leading 8-0 after three takedowns and a 2pt exposure, Beardsley would hit a pancake for what would have given her a 10-0 TF if not for the fact that she was able to secure the fall instead to knock off Avery Mancini (2025 S2 Runner-up; Burnt Hills/Scotia/Ballston Spa) at a time of 1:28!

Her performance in the finals resembled how much of Sunday transpired for the Beardsley, as she went the distance just once (2 falls, 1 TF, 1 dec) in her four outings while out-scoring the opposition by a margin of 35-4!

The only real challenge mounted against her coming in the semifinals; she'd get the better end of a 4 & 2 exchange on her head throw attempt in the final 1:00 of regulation to steal the 4-4 criteria decision over 2025 State Qualifier/2025 Suffolk runner-up, Zoe Hernandez (Rocky Point)...

She toppled another returning State Qualifier for a blue chip victory in the quarters when leading 9-0, she was able to throw Middletown's Shane Dharaleen for a 2pt exposure that yielded the stick in a time of 2:33!!!

Final Placement Results:
1st: Lorilye Beardsley (Avon-Geneseo) pinned Avery Mancini (BH/Scotia/BS), 10-0 1:28
3rd: Anabelle Wessel (Alexander) pinned Zoey Hernandez (Rocky Point), 8-2 2:05
5th: Brooke Connors (Mechanicville-Stillwater) DEC Emma Dellapenta (Eden), 8-4

126: Sara Pauls (Minisink Valley-9)

The third attempt was the charm for Ms. Sara Pauls!!!

Falling in the title contest in both 2023 and 2025; the Minisink Valley showstopper refused to be denied the ESC hardware in 2026!!

Seeded 3rd in the 126-pound bracket, the always incendiary Section 9 rep turned a scoreless affair into a quick stick when she went head-hunting and tossed top-seeded/national #13 ranked Sara McLaughlin (2x Prep National Medalist/2024 runner-up; 3x Massachusetts State finalist/2x titlist; 2024 Fargo 16U FS 8th; 2023 USAW Girls Folk National Champion; 2x NHSCA AA) to her back for the 1:09 fall to claim the crown!!

The sticking of the the New Englander being the second of a pair of marquee and dominant triumphs against elite out-of-state foes; two rounds prior in the quarterfinals, the 3x NYS medalist/2x finalist/2023 Champion needed just 92 seconds to rack up a 10-0 superiority verdict against 2x Connecticut State bridesmaid, Elliana Selearis (Amity)....

Drawing first blood when she utilized a body lock to take her foe to her back for a 4-pointer :32 into the 1st period; Pauls added an additional TD and two separate exposures to culminate her triumph!!

In her opening bout, Pauls jumped out to an 8-0 advantage (a pair of double-leg TDs, including a 4-point + a go-behind) before running a tight arm bar for a 2pt exposure (10-0) that would have ended the match regardless; but she wanted the fall, which she got in a time of 1:42 versus 2x Defending PSAL FS titlist, Ariana Oliveri (Bronx Science)!

The only "disappointment" transpired in the semifinals when Pauls accepted a victory by injury default against her rival from Rocky Point, Julianna Hernandez (2x Defending State Champion; multiple-time age-group National All-American/Champion)...

The Warrior was adamant in saying that she wanted a "clean" win after falling to the Long Islander in their most recent previous meetings (2025 State finals; the 2025 Dame of Thrones)!

Final Placement Results
1st: Sara Pauls (Minisink Valley) pinned Sara Mclaughlin (Choate Rosemary Hall), 2-0 1:09
3rd: Delaney Frost (Noble) TF Amy Erikson (Niskayuna-schenectady), 10-0 3:21
5th: Elliana Selearis (Amity) Medical Forfeit over Julianna Hernandez (Rocky Point)

138: Noli Paddock (Chautauqua Lake-6)

STILL UNBEATEN IN 2025-2026!!

The 2x returning State placer [Paddock] kept her perfect 2025-2026 campaign immaculate today when she capped off a coronation at 138 pounds by "ripping the glass slipper" off of 7th-seeded Chloe Ross (Choate Rossemary) to way of a 1:44 falls in the finale!!!

Finding herself in an initial 6-0 hole against the 2025 Rhode Island State Champion/2025 NHSCA All-American [Ross]; the Chautauqua Lake standout battled back to score six unanswered points, including the 4-point exposure (planted Ross while holding her in waterfall position) that acted as a precursor to the eventual pin!

Truly earning her crown in her ESC debut, the Section VI resident received one's best shot and still managed to will her way to victory....

In her semifinal match, she exploded for a 4-pointer approximately with approximately 1:45 remaining in the 2nd period to go up 8-2 before withstanding a late rally to hang on for a 12-8 decision against returning State 4th, Brooke-Lynn Murray (Bay Shore)!!

Her first and only other outing as part of a 3-0 Sunday took the form of a 0:51 fall against 2025 S2 5th-place performer, Hannah Messare (Burnt Hills/Scotia/Ballston Spa)...

Surrendering a 4-point move less than half-a-minute into the 1st period; Paddock responded by rolling through for a 2pt counter exposure during the continuation of the sequence and then proceeded to run a bar from par terre to get the turn and mat slap!!

Final Placement Results
1st: Noli Paddock (Chautauqua Lake) pinned Chloe Ross (Choate Rosemary Hall), 6-6 1:44
3rd: Harbour Makenzie (Shenendehowa) TF Brooke-lynn Murray (Bay Shore), 13-2 4:51
5th: Young Kaitlyn (Shenendehowa) TF Maddy Keeler (Putnam), 11-0 5:04

145: Ella Gregg (Niskayuna-Schenectady-2)

What a difference a year made in the case of Niskayuna-Schenectady 145-pounder, Ella Gregg!!!

Going 1-2 and missing the podium at this event as a junior up at 152 pounds; the returning NYSPHSAA State Bronze medalist completed the "full 180" when she culminated a 3-0 resume by earning a 5-5 criteria decision over Wyoming Seminary's Hannah Lawrence (2024 Prep National runner-up)!!

Trailing 4-0 (end of the 1st period) and 5-2 (just over 2:00 remaining in regulation); Gregg stormed back in the last 90 seconds of the 2nd period, as she defended her opponent's gut-wrench attempt for a 1pt reversal (1:27 on the clock) and then converted a snap + spin TD with 26 ticks to go to even the score on the board and seize the comeback dub by virtue of last points recorded!

The encore with the top-seeded Blue Knight entry [Lawrence] being the lone occasion in which the Gregg was forced to go the hard 6:00; she'd register falls in each of her first two trips to the mat to lock up the berth in the 'ship!!

Her tournament commencing with a quarterfinal showdown against returning S2 Bronze medalist, Elexis Lacy (Mohonasen Schalmont); Gregg circled behind for a pair of counter TDs to go up 4-0 and then put her fellow Albany-area rival in danger when she ran a bar en route for the stick with :29 to go in the opening period!

Her semifinal contest a much more competitive affair; Gregg climbed out of a 5-2 hole when she anticipated a trip attempt and then caught the head to toss 2025 State 5th, Veronica Sky Williams (Bellport) directly to her back for a 4-pointer (to go up 6-5) that eventually generated a fall in a time of 2:11!!

Looking very much like a smart money pick to be high up on the podium again at the NYSPHSAA Championships; Gregg's only blemish thus far this season came at the hands of 2x State finalist/ Defending Queen, Bella Satalino (Columbia)!

Final Placement Results
1st: Ella Gregg (Niskayuna-schenectady) DEC Hannah Lawrence (Wyoming Sem), 5-5
3rd: Sky Williams (Bellport) pinned Elexis Lacy (Mohonasen Schalmont), 4-2 0:30
5th: Rilee Kinsley (Valley Central) pinned Hailey Lichtenstein (Middletown), 4-0 0:18

185: Emily Rodriguez (Nyack-1)

Coming out of nowhere to win the 2025 NYSPHSAA State crown as the #10 seed...

Now, when Nyack Senior 185-pounder, Emily Rodriguez, wins something; it is considered matter of fact and/or the standard!!

The present-day #28 ranked lady in the country per Sports Illustrated had herself a little pin party on Sunday, as she went a perfect 3-for-3 in inducing slaps of the mat en route to her first ESC gold (in her debut)!!

Showing why she was sitting on the top line of the bracket; Rodriguez registered a stepout, a TD, and 2pt turn via cradle to establish a quick 5-0 lead less than 1:00 into the opening period...

After a brief stoppage to tend to some blood; she resumed her dominance, capturing the head and tossing returning NYS 4th-place performer, Delina Gritz (Putnam), for 4pts (to go up 9-0), to set up the eventual fall at the 1:32 mark!

Her semifinal date with 2025 Suffolk runner-up/NYSPHSAA Qualifier, Kyliegh Kershner (East Islip) being every bit an exercise in control; Rodriguez transformed a scoreless match into a 2:07 stick when just moments after being awarded an activity clock pts, she converted a 4pt trip from feet-to-back, and then transitioned to a power-half from top hold the Section XI resident in danger until the end came shortly thereafter!!

Final Placement Results
1st: Emily Rodriguez (Nyack) pinned Delina Gritz (Putnam), 9-0 1:32
3rd: Ryann Berner (Clarence) pinned Kristen Baskin (BTS- Edward R. Murrow), 8-2 3:28
5th: Kyliegh Kershner (East Islip) DEC Eva Tumanyan (Choate Rosemary Hall), 1-1

235: Sydney Fisher (Bay Shore-11)

After not making the podium in Albany last season; the Bay Shore 235-pounder [Fisher] is showing every sign of being a serious contender in 2026!!

The Marauder 11th grader was not good on Sunday at the Eastern States Classic....She was nothing short of absolutely phenomenal in taking home the brass ring!!

Squaring off in the main event against 3x State placer (2023 runner-up)/2025 ESC 3rd, Naomi Gonzalez (Valley Stream), Fisher trailed 6-0 before pancaking her Nassau County opponent for a buzzer-beating fall with :03 remaining in the 1st period!!

The win avenged her only loss thus far this season; as previously lost to her fellow Long Islander in late-December in the finals of the Roseto!

Gonzalez being the second of a pair of state runners-up that the 2025 Suffolk Queen bested in consecutive rounds....

In the semifinals, she used a body lock (while already leading 4-0) to force 2025 State runner-up/defending ESC titlist, Mia Flores (MacArthur) directly to her back for a 4-pointer (making the score 8-0) that later yielded the stick in a time of 1:12!

3 UP...3 DOWN for Fisher; in her only other trip to the mat; she kicked off her trek to the hardware by hurling Putnam's Alexis Keeler straight to her back for the 55-second glue job!

Final Placement Results
1st: Sydney Fisher (Bay Shore) pinned Naomi Gonzalez (Valley Stream), 6-2 2:57
3rd: Mia Flores (MacArthur) TF Ava Gregg (Shaker), 12-1 3:00

The culmination of her tournament win being a victory against surprise finalist. Alianna Lyon (2025 State Blood Rounder forMechanicville-Stillwater); Mancha also notched dubs against the likes of 2025 State 4th, Olivia Anello (Bellport), and 2025 S6 Champ/State Qualifier, Kortlyn Fairbank (Chautauqua Lake)

107: Jaclyn Bouzakis (Wyoming Seminary-NP)---Displaying why she is regarded as the #1 ranked wrestler in her weight class and #2 pound-for-pound, the 2x UWW U17 World Bronze Medalist (and daughter of NY legend, Troy) completed a 4-0 resume (41-0 margin) when she prevailed, 10-0, in the most anticipated match of the day against Port Jervis's Charlie Wylie (#3 ranked in the nation; 2025 Girls State Champion; 2023 Boys State 6th; 2x U17 Pan-American medalist/2023 Gold; 3x Fargo AA/2x finalist/2024 16U National Champion, etc...)....

The win over Wylie being the second marquee triumph of the day for Bouzakis; one round earlier, she blanked returning NYSPHSAA runner-up, Julia Duro (Shaker), by an identical score!
______________________________________

114: Riley Karwowski (Wyoming Seminary-NP)---Sitting in the #16 spot of the MatScouts polls; the 2025 Fargo 16U National runner-up/2025 Super 32 6th diaper dandy for the Blue Knights took the ESC throne by sticking Choate's top-seeded Lily Runez (#11 ranked in the nation; 2025 Prep National Bronze Medalist; 2x New Hampshire State finalist/2023 gold; 2024 Fargo Junior 8th; 2024 USAW Junior Folk National 4th) at the 1:41 mark.....

This triumph in this top-15 collision the obvious highlight of the day for Karwowski; she reached the finals by posting respective 9-2 and 12-2 victories in the quarter and semifinal rounds against top-notch Empire Staters---Gianna Cruz (2025 State runner-up for Ursuline) and reigning NY-USAW Wrestler of the Week selection, Bella Phelps (Sidney; 3x State placer)!!!
______________________________________

120: Marie Sharp (Blair Academy-NP)---Repeating as an Eastern States Classic Queen would be the current #5 lady in the land, Sharp (2025 Prep National Champion; 2x Fargo 16U All-American/2025 National runner-up; 3x Super 32 Placer)....Squaring off against 3x NYS State placer/2x runner-up, Gabi Severlin (Bethpage), in the main event; Sharp overcame an early 2-0 deficit to eventually pin the Eagle standout at 1:05 mark...

Severin being the only opponent who managed to score a point on the highly-touted Buccaneer sophomore (37-2 margin); in previous trips to the mats, Sharp's came away with a 12-0 semifinal tech against Choate's Tatianna Irizarry (2025 Prep National Bronze, 2024 Connecticut State titlist); a 10-0 shutout in the quarters versus 2025 PIAA State Qualifier, Alexis Foscone (now at Wyoming Seminary), and a 1:23 stick in the R16 against 2025 Suffolk runner-up/returning NYS Qualifier, Miranda Piniero (Bellport)!
______________________________________

132: Corynne McNulty (Blair-NP)---Joining her Blair teammate [Sharp] as the only repeat titlist in 2026 at the ESC was national #16 ranked, McNulty...Emerging from the bottom half of the bracket (#2 seed), the 2x Prep National All-American (2024 Champion)/2x Fargo All-American (2024 16U National runner-up)/2024 Super 32 Silver Medalist wrapped up a 5-0 day when she established a 10-2 cushion before sticking top-seeded Cristel Miguel (#11 ranked in the nation; 2x Connecticut State runner-up; 2025 Fargo 16U 4th; 2025 NHSCA National runner-up) with :08 remaining in regulation!!!!....

Unscored upon (40-0) in the lead-up to the title contest; McNulty banked back-to-back 10-0 TF dubs against returning NYS placers---Jada Lee (2025 State 4th for Monroe Woodbury) & Caitlin Maragioglio (Bellport; 2x State 4th; 2025 Fargo 16U All-American) during the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds!
______________________________________

152: Ciyanna Okocha (Wyoming Seminary-NP)---Dropping all the way down from 170 where MatScouts has her slotted as the #2 woman in the country, Okocha (2x Virginia State medalist/2025 Champion; 2025 Super 32 Champion; 2025 U.S. Open Girls Showcase National Champion; 2025 Fargo 16U Bronze Medalist) went untested last weekend in Clifton Park, as she amassed a 38-0 margin on her way to four straight bonus point triumphs (2 falls, 2 techs)....

Her final victim being 5x PSAL (between folk and FS) Champion/2025 NHSCA All-American, Ana Carolina Lockard (Brooklyn Tech); the SEM sensation jumped out to an 8-0 lead before earning the fall with :33 remaining in the 1st period....

Both of her aforementioned pins coming in back-to-back fashion; in the semis, she'd initiate a throw and then scramble her way to a dominant position to entice the slap of the mat at the 3:15 mark (up 10-0) against 2025 NYS runner-up, Aaliyah Morrow (Bellport)!!

In earlier action, she pitched 10-0 shutouts over 2x State Qualifier/2025 S6 runner-up, Kiernan Quinn (Gowanda), and Shaker's Leat Minaya!
