2022 State Runner-up/2024 Fargo All-American Chooses to Stay Home

Just after 4pm on Thursday January 16th, the Bearcats of Binghamton University landed themselves one heck of a bedrock piece to serve as the foundation of their 2026 recruiting class!!!

Announcing via social media his commitment to the Vestal, NY based EIWA Conference Member program; NY-USAW #6 Big Boarder, Ryan Ferrara, gave Section IV aficionados a reason to rejoice...

Stating that he "Bleeds Green", the standout Chenango Forks Junior is a significant acquisition for Coach Kyle Borshoff and his staff, as he represents the first in-state top-10 prospect landed by the 'Cats since a 2023 haul that featured #6 Trent Sibble (2x State finalist/2023 Champion; 2023 NHSCA National Champion) & #13 Jordan Brown (3x State placer/2023 runner-up)!!!

Currently boasting an undefeated record and holding the #2 spot in the 138-pounder in the Large School polls; despite missing the 2023-2024 postseason, the Blue Devil student-athlete has twice achieved top-8 status at the NYSPHSAA DI State Championships...

His debut on South Pearl Street as a 102-pound 8th grader in 2022 yielding him a runner-up finish in the bracket; Ferrara would capped off a 29-6 rookie campaign by going 3-1 under the roof of MVP Arena, including a 3-1 quarterfinal decision 2026 Big Board #3, Cooper Merli (Newburgh), who has since gone on to become a 2x Defending State gold medalist...His lone loss was suffered in the main event at the hands of #1 overall Junior recruit/3x State medalist (2x finalist)/2024 Double Fargo Junior AA (FS National Champion)/2024 Super 32 6th, Dunia Sibomana-Rodriguez (Long Beach)!

The following season (2022-2023), he'd split with present-day Edinboro wrestler/former 2x State placer, Austin Zimmerman (St. Joe's Collegiate) en route to a 6th-place effort at 110 pounds!!

His sophomore year devastatingly cut short (as noted above) due to the injury big; there is little question that Ferrara was well on his way towards another podium finish as he sported an unblemished resume against fellow Empire Staters when he was forced onto the shelf in Mid-January...

Possessing a careers wins list that over the years has been headlined by the likes of the aforementioned Merli, Maverick Beckwith (Norwich; 2x NYS DII medalist/2024 Champion), Anthony Valls (Chenango Valley; 2x State placer/2024 DII runner-up), Logan Bellis (Tioga; 2x State medalist/2023 State runner-up), Christopher Noto (3x State placer/2024 DII runner-up), and most recently Jayden Duncanson (3x State medalist/2024 runner-up) among others; the KD Training Center pupil has been nothing if not battle-tested at every stage of his competitive scholastic career!

His vitae on the national stage not without merit; this past summer; Ferrara saw his stock skyrocket in Fargo when he became the first Section IV wrestler since 2019 [Dante Rigal; 16U 6th) to garner All-American distinction in the Greco-Roman discipline...

Raising his victory sum for the week-long festivities to 10 (went 3-2 in freestyle), Ferrara dropped down to the 132-pound, 16 bracket and accrued a 7-3 record, highlighted by respective 5-0, 8-0, and 10-0 triumphs in the consolation bracket over Gunner Butt (2x Indiana State placer), Raidyn Pugsley (2024 Idaho State runner-up), and Keagan Sieracki (2x Texas State medalist/2024 runner-up)!

A product of extraordinary genes; Ryan is the brother of current Cornell starting 133-pounder, Tyler; who during his time competing on behalf of Forks was a 4x State finalist/3x Champion, as well as New York's recipient of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award as a senior in '23!
