Girls Cross State Lines, Finish 4-4 Overall

DAY 2: GOLD BRACKET IS NO JOKE

If there was one thing learned from Sunday at the Nittany Valley Sports Centre, it was keep your head high, keep pushing forward, and time to get back to work.

The Ladies representing The Evil Empire dropped all 3 dual meets in the gold bracket:

Charlie Angels Pink: 59-26
CT Whales: 44-42
PA West Black: 51-28

The back end of NY's lineup anchored this year's squad. Pleasantville's Palumbo tallied 3 more wins, making her 6-0 on the weekend, in convincing fashion. Against stiff competition, the Panther Senior left no doubt with 2 falls and 1 tech at 71kg.

***Notable: Adriana pinned Sarah Henckel (CT Whales). Henckel took 3rd at Fargo, 4th at U17 Womens Nationals.

Union Endicott's Teagan McGuiness joined the winning ways, also earning 3 victories on Sunday at 76kg. Marissa Crofoot (Fulton-3, 82kg) and Peyton Mullin (Dundee-5, 105kg), went 1-2 and 2-1 respectively, giving the fab four an impressive 9-3 record the day. Overall, the ANCHORS recorded a 24-8 record and gave the female ghostbusters solid points in each dual meet.

Calhoun's Reese Adams compiled a perfect 4-0 record on the weekend, 2-0 on Sunday. She capped off her perfection with a fall in the finale against Alissa Brooks of PA West Black. Her grit and smarts shined in round 1 while battling Kiiaana Gavere. A back-and-forth battle would end with Adams scoring the final TWO, and securing the victory.

The three lightweights (Schulz, Soto, Tackett) compiled 15 wins against 6 losses.

Minisink Valley has a knack for producing ABSOLUTE STUDS! Too many to name....but let's add Sara Pauls to that extensive and elite list. Miss Pauls was a bonus point machine, earning 2 falls and 2 techs en route to a 6-2 weekend. The MV phenom will take her talents to the UWW U17 World Beach Championships in Katerini-Pierria, Greece this Thursday. Sara is a 2x NYS Place Winner (3rd in '24, Champion in '23).

"I am very proud of the team we had. The senior girls did an amazing job with the younger girls. They cheered them on and told them how great they did, win or lose. They hugged them when they cried, colored with them on the side of the mat, and most importantly, they were amazing role models." - Team NY Coach Dianna Acors
