RAVANNACK ELECTED USA WRESTLING PRESIDENT James Ravannack of
Louisiana has been elected to a two-year term as the new
president of USA Wrestling at elections held at the Board of
Directors meeting in Florida. Also elected were the new officers
of the association, as well at-large members of the Board of
Directors.

JUNIOR OLYMPIC REPORT INCLUDES CHANGES IN GRASSROOTS PROGRAMS
The Junior Olympic Wrestling Committee, in its report which has
been accepted by the USA Wrestling Board of Directors, details
the changes in grassroots programs for the new year. Those
active in age-group wrestling programs should read this report
to stay current.

The V! irginia Challenge is hosting the Neptune Festival Beach
Brawl Wrestling Championships in Virginia Beach, Va. On
Saturday, Sept. 30 is the individual tournament, followed by an
exciting dual meet tournament on Sunday, Oct. 1.

EWING NAMED STATE CHAIRPERSON OF THE YEAR Craig Ewing of
Missouri has been named the USA Wrestling State Chairperson of
the Year by his peers. It is the final national award presented

FIRST U.S. BEACH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS A BIG SUCCESS USA
Wrestling hosted its first U.S. Beach National Championships in
Riviera Beach, Fla., as the first national champions in the new
style have been crowned and the first U.S. World Team determined
on the Senior level.

USA Wrestling hosted the U.S. Sombo National Championships in

COLLEGE SPORTS COUNCIL WRITES NCAA ABOUT TITLE IX DANGERS In a
letter to the NCAA Executive Committee, the College Sports
Council has urged the use of interest surveys for both male and
female athletes as a way to bring fairness and common sense to
Title IX compliance.

GEORGIA CITIZENS ASKED TO WRITE GOVERNOR TO SUPPORT COLLEGE TEAM
The citizens of Georgia have been asked to write a letter to
Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue asking for his support to start a
college varsity wrestling team within the state. The Georgia
Intercollegiate Wrestling Association is working to create
college wrestling there.

USOC RELEASES PAN AM GAMES SELECTION PROCEDURES The selection
procedures for the athlete selection procedures for the U.S.
wrestling teams at the 2007 Pan American Games has been
announced, pending final approval by the U.S. Olympic Committee.

NATIONAL WRESTLING LEGENDS FUND SET UP TO SUPPORT WRESTLING
USA Wrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of F! ame have
combined efforts to establish the National Wrestling ! Legends
Fund. This program allows people to support the programs of both
organizations. Author John Irving is the Honorary Chairman. A
special website has been set up for this new program.
