DAVE SCHULTZ HIGH SCHOOL EXCELLENCE AWARD STATE WINNERS NAMED - The National Wrestling Hall of Fame has announced the state-level winners of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award for 2006. Many of the nation's top scholar-athletes have been honored. Five regional winners and one national winner will be announced at a later date.

FILA APPROVES TWO-PIECE UNIFORMS FOR INTERNATIONAL WRESTLING - FILA, the international federation, has approved the use of two-piece uniforms. All levels of competition in the United States conducted in the international styles will be permitted to wear either a singlet or the two-piece uniform.

PARTICIPANT WAIVER AND RELEASE REMINDER FOR LEADERS - USA Wrestling has published a reminder to club leaders and event directors that a waiver and release must be signed prior to an athlete's participation in sanctioned USA Wrestling activities. Club presidents and event directors must keep these waivers for a minimum of four years. Failure to do so may be the cause for denial of insurance benefits.

ASKREN WINS HODGE TROPHY AS TOP COLLEGE WRESTLER - Ben Askren of the Univ. of Missouri, the NCAA champion at 174 pounds, was awarded the Dan Hodge Trophy by W.I.N. magazine as the nation's top college wrestler. Askren, a high school star from Wisconsin, has been very successful in USA Wrestling events throughout his wrestling career.
