USA Wrestling Background Screening Implemented

The National Board of Directors of USA Wrestling at their 2007 Annual Board Meeting had voted to implement mandatory background checks on all Officials (both mat and pairing) and all coaches in order to be a registered member of the organization. It was originally slated to be implemented for the 2007-2008 membership year but was delayed so that it could be properly vetted through the various Age Group Councils, the State Chairpersons Council and the Junior Olympic Wrestling Committee of the Board.

This program brings USA Wrestling in line with several other National Governing Bodies that are under the auspices of the US Olympic Committee (USOC).

Please see the attached documents that more fully describe the policy and the process that officials and coaches must follow to be screened. If anyone has questions, please contact the State Chairman for USA Wrestling in New York, Ed Gould, at chairman.ny_usaw@yahoo.com.
